How to Be a Damsel in Distress
Women who need or ask for help get a bad wrap. That shouldn't be the case. Every once in a while women should be able to try on a different hat and be a damsel in distress. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be helped or saved in an emergency. Accepting the help once it is given is a pretty strong thing for any woman to do.

1
Travel alone. Be a damsel in distress by going places by yourself. This will enhance your mystique and make you seem more helpless than you actually are. A woman alone with a flat tire tends to get help from passers by. This is also true of any situation where you may find yourself stranded. Ask for help and ye shall receive.

2
Tell your story. When you are dining alone while traveling or just down the street from your house, talk to people. There are occasions where just striking up a conversation with a stranger can reap rewards. Stop and talk to the people around you about your search for interviewees regarding a new article you are working on. Tell the guy at the deli that you are looking for a well-priced, slightly used weight set. Be a damsel in distress in the most vague way by dropping hints and waiting to see if anything comes of it.

Look small. It is not a requirement to be a damsel in distress, but most media darling damsels are petite. You will probably have to meet a list of requirements regarding your looks in order to get full media coverage, but you can be a damsel in distress without being tied to railroad tracks.

Ask for help. At work, it is okay to be a damsel in distress when you can't lift a box or get the right people to help you with your software problems. Ask for help from your partner. It may be hard to be soft when women are supposed to be so strong, but it's part of being human. Take the risk and be vulnerable.
