Airports are fascinating places, where people from all around the world fly in. One of the best places to be to get an overall view of the airport and its workings is from an airport control tower. It's possible to tour those towers at some airports.

From Quick Guide: Air Traffic Control Guide
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Call the airport near you to ask to have a tour of the control tower. By calling them, you should be able to learn the specifics as well as the requirements for receiving a tour.

  2. Step 2

Tour the NASA's "'FutureFlight Central', the world's first full-scale virtual airport control tower". There NASA searches for ways to solve "potential air and ground traffic problems at commercial airports".

  3. Step 3

Visit airport control towers virtually via the Internet. You can go to the control tower at the old Kallang Airport in Singapore, the control tower of the Isle of Man airport (past and present), and more.

  4. Step 4

Go around the world. Tours of the control towers are available at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport, as well as the Stockholm Arlanda Airport, and more. Call ahead as security measures may limit these tours.
