Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Plant the marjoram seeds early in the spring. After the season's last frost is the ideal time for planting. You can choose to plant the herb indoors and then transplant it outdoors come springtime.

  2. Step 2

Find a spot in your garden that has full sun. You need soil that is well draining too. The soil does not have to be moist; marjoram can survive in drier conditions.

  3. Step 3

Dig holes that are approximately 3/4 inches deep. Cover each plant or seed lightly with soil. You should plant each marjoram seed 12 inches apart. You need to separate your rows by 16 to 18 inches.

  4. Step 4

Water your marjoram on a regular basis. Marjoram needs water to grow, but over watering the plant should be avoided.

  5. Step 5

Remove any flowers once they appear. If the flowers bloom, the marjoram leaves will have a bitter taste.

  6. Step 6

Harvest your marjoram about mid-summer. This will be just before the plant starts to flower. Pick off the leaves on a dry day and use them in your favorite dishes.
