Camping in the great outdoors is a wonderful way to experience the natural beauty of the world. Your camping experience can quickly turn sour if you happen to be near loud or drunk campers. Keep the peace by resolving problems quickly and in a calm manner.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A copy of the camp's rule book

Step1
Give them a few moments to quiet down and recognize they may be bothering fellow campers. Be courteous and give them a few minutes to wind down from the day.
Step2
Wait at least 5 to 10 minutes before you approach the group to ask nicely to lower the noise. Speak to them about how their voices carry and they're a little too loud.
Step3
Walk over and in a calm respectful tone of voice let them know they are disturbing your party. Tell them you realize they are having fun, however you appreciate them quieting down the noise.
Step4
Contact the park management, the camp owner, an attendant or the camp ranger now. Locate management at the check in area or registration desk. Explain the situation as calmly as possible and bring a witness to the loud or inappropriate behavior of the campers.

Tips & Warnings

  • At nighttime in most camps, it is common courtesy to not talk over a whisper since voices carry far at night. Suggest that the campers use headphones if they want to listen to music.
  • Pets are a common noise issue on campgrounds. If camping with a pet it may be necessary to stay up with your pet to ensure the other campers are not disturbed.
  • Be cautious when dealing with drunken campers. Alcohol makes individuals more prone to aggressive behaviors.
  • Don't immediately approach your fellow camper because they are talking too loud. If the camper seems to be getting angry or unreceptive, its best to not approach them. Instead see camp management.
  • Don't wait to the next day to report the campers or you may end up having to deal with their rude behavior for another night.
