Shopping, and the rush that comes with it, can be an addiction. Shopping beyond your means creates over-filled closets and destroys your relationships with partners, children and friends. It also causes you to lose jobs (if you shop while your supposed to be working) and causes you to go into debt and ruin your credit. However, a Shopaholics Anonymous meeting is the answer.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Go the official Shopaholics Anonymous website. With this program you can learn why you're a shopaholic at the same time you find solutions for your problem.
Step2
Attend a Debtors Anonymous meeting. Since most shopaholics have a problem with debt, a Debtors Anonymous meeting may be for you. Go to the official Debtors Anonymous website for more information and a list of meetings in your area.
Step3
Speak to your doctor. Shopping to excess may indicate a problem such as depression or a bipolar disorder. In addition to prescribing medicine and possibly therapy, your doctor may be able to recommend a Shopaholics Anonymous meeting in your area.

Tips & Warnings

  • Consider speaking to a credit counselor as you attend meetings to improve your credit and help you deal with any debt issues you may have.
  • You may need additional therapy to deal with the root of your shopping problem. Speak to your doctor for more information.
