How to Pitch a Film or Television Idea to a Company
With TV shows like the Greenlight Project and On the Lot inspiring film and television directors, writers and producers are lining up outside the film and television industries doorsteps with ideas waiting to be funded. Most however are turned down because of the manner in which they were pitched or told to the ones who write the checks. Confidence is key.
Instructions

-
1
Solidify your idea until you can tell anyone what your show or movie is about. Never ever stutter or stammer when you are explaining what you would like to film. Know your concept back and front.
-
2
Present yourself well. Do not show up to your scheduled meeting looking like you just woke up. Dress for success because, after all, you only have one shot at your dream with big-time producers.
-
-
3
Bring visuals with you if you can. After all the end product of what you have written is going to be made into a visual medium.
-
4
Thank your listeners for their time. Even if you think you floored them with your presentation, chances are they would never show it. Therefore, be professional. Thank them, shake their hands and follow up. If you don't hear from them, call them and make them aware that you are fully committed to your concept.
