How to Put on Nail Tips

You can extend short nails with nail tips. If you want to apply them yourself, you need to purchase several items. You should be able to complete the application in a few simple steps.

Things You'll Need

• Artificial nail tips
• Nail polish remover
• Nail cutter
• Nail file
• Nail glue
• Nail polish

Instructions

1. Purchase a set of artificial nails. These nail sets only cost a few dollars and make the application process simpler. You can find many easy-to-use artificial nail brands at discount and beauty supply stores.

2. Remove any nail polish from your fingernails. Use a nail cutter to cut your nails down, so that the artificial nails look natural when applied. Smooth rough nails with a nail file.

3. Place the nail glue directly on your fingernails. Use a small amount in order to prevent messy application. Take the artificial nail tip and hold it down on top of the nail glue. Apply pressure for at least 2 minutes to ensure that it holds.

4. Use the nail cutter to cut the nails in the style and length that you desire. You can make the tips square or round.

5. Choose a polish for your new nails and apply it. You should put on 2 coats of the polish as well as a clear top coat.

Tips & Warnings

• You may wish to have someone help you apply the nail tips. They can help you press the nails on and cut the length.

• After a few weeks, you'll need a fill-in for your nail tips. A fill in will cover the part of your nails that have grown since you applied the nails.
