Learning with attribute shapes will encourage your preschooler to further develop in language, intellectual, social and fine motor skills. Follow these directions to make a fun game using attribute shapes.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use the shapes of triangle, square, and rectangle. Add circles too. Choose several different colors of construction paper.

  2. Step 2

Purchase clear contact paper. Cover construction paper both front and back with the clear contact paper to make the shapes more durable.

  3. Step 3

Cut out the laminated shapes leaving about a 1/4 inch around the edges for the contact to adhere to.

  4. Step 4

Play with the shapes by naming the shapes and color of each one. This will develop your preschooler's language skills.

  5. Step 5

Arrange the shapes by matching them by shape or color. This will develop your preschooler's intellectual skills.

  6. Step 6

Make patterns with the shapes, for example square, square, triangle, and have your preschooler match the pattern. This will develop visual skills.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can use anything to match, sort and classify with--blocks, cups, bowls or spoons. Look around your house for different objects.
