How to Make a Karaoke CD

Karaoke typically involves singing along to a specially created music CD that has had the vocals removed. However, you can make your own karaoke CD if you have the appropriate equipment. You can also download karaoke songs onto a CD from the Internet. Karaoke CDs contain both music and onscreen lyrics, which is why you need a special machine to create them.

Purchase a Karaoke CD Burner

1. Shop for machines that are capable of creating CD+G CDs. CD+G disks are CDs that contain both the music and the words that will appear onscreen when you perform karaoke.
2. Look for units that do not require a connection to a computer for the greatest flexibility. While stand-alone karaoke burning units are more expensive, you will be able to make CD+G disks even when you are away from home.
3. Choose a karaoke CD burner that is capable of making copies of other media as well. For just a little more money, you can find CG+G burners that will let you make copies of audio, data and video CDs as well.
4. Use the karaoke CD+G burner to make mixed CDs of your favorite karaoke songs. Burn the songs you want into the memory on your karaoke burner. Use the CD play list menu to put together the songs in any order you wish. Then press the "Record" button to create your mixed CD.

6. Purchase the software needed to download the karaoke songs that the service provides. Once you receive the software in the mail, you will need to download it onto your computer before you will be able to make your own karaoke CDs.
7. Browse the service's website to find the karaoke songs you want. Download them onto your computer hard drive.
8. Organize the songs using the CD burning system on your computer. Place a blank CD in the CD drive, and press the "burn" button to begin making your karaoke CD.

• Standard CD burning equipment cannot create karaoke CD+G disks.
• Keep in mind that downloading songs without the permissions of the artists is a violation of copyright law. Be sure that any karaoke song service has the required permissions before you download from it.
