How to Make Apple Butter with Spice!

Fall is around the corner and the Apple crop is at its peak! Grab a bag of Apples and make a Spicy Apple Butter. Fill the house with the fragrance of Fall!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Apples
  • Apple Cider
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • Cloves
  • Allspice
  1. Step 1

    Quarter and remove stem from 4 pounds of apples.

  2. Step 2

    Place apples and 1 cup of apple cider in a slow cooker for 10 hours or overnight on High.

  3. Step 3

    Sift the apples through a food mill and return pulp to slow cooker.

  4. Step 4

    Add 2 1/2 cups of granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon cloves, and 1/2 teaspoon allspice and cook for another hour. If there is too much liquid leave the lid off for this hour.

  5. Step 5

    If you want to preserve:
    Ladle apple butter into hot, sterilized pint jars leaving 1/4 inch headspace. Process in boiling-water canner for approximately 10 minutes.
