Step 1
Deciding that you are going homeschool your child is one the biggest decisions you will ever make. For many of us, the next biggest decision is figuring out what curriculum to use. For us, we needed something that would engage my computer literate son. Something more interesting than just workbooks. So your first step is to try to determine if an online curriculum like Time4Learning might work for you.

Step 2
The next step is visiting Time4Learning (see link 1 below) and seeing what they are all about. Time4Learning covers language arts, math, science and social studies from preschool (link 2), through elementary (link 3) and middle school (link 4). They offer animated lessons (link 5) that can entertain your child, as well as engage them in the learning process.

Step 3
This step is determining what grade level your child should work on. Visit Time4Learning's lesson plans, or scope and sequence, (link 6) to look at what is taught at each level. One of the greatest things about this program is it's flexibility. Let's say that you place your child in the 2nd grade. Your child can independently maneuver between one level below and one level above their main grade level. For instance, they are doing well in 2nd grade science (link 7) but need a little reinforcement in math. They can bounce down to the 1st grade math (link 8). On the other hand of that, if they need to be challenged a little more in language arts, they can jump up to 3rd grade language arts (link 9). It's easy and gives them the independence they may need to thrive.
