Things You'll Need:
- Homax OOPS! Multi-purpose remover
- Valspar Goof Off 2
- Clean white rag
- Old firm toothbrush
-
Step 1
The best way to prevent stains on vinyl siding is to mask the area before you begin or wipe off the overspray and splatters immediately. However, assuming you have dried sealant splatter on your vinyl siding you've probably noticed it's very difficult to remove. The only success I've had is with Goof Off and OOPS cleaners. This should be safe, because it's recommended by several of the sealant manufacturers.
-
Step 2
Prepare the area by wiping it down with a wet rag and let it dry.
-
Step 3
Begin by trying one small spot in an inconspicuous area. It's best to shade the area so the cleaner doesn't evaporate quickly. Start by putting a liberal amount of cleaner on a clean rag. I use a clean white rag so I'm sure not to get any dirt or dye from a dirty or colored rag on the siding. Rub this into the stained area and let it sit for a minute.
-
Step 4
Once the cleaner has had a chance to soften the sealant, try rubbing it in a circular motion with the rag and see if that removes it. If not, try putting some solvent on the brush and work this in a circular motion, alternating between the rag and the brush.
-
Step 5
Once you have removed the stain, wipe the area with a wet rag with some mild dish detergent, rinse, and let dry. Make sure that the cleaner hasn't damaged the vinyl, but it shouldn't. Proceed to the other areas.
