How to Write a Mother Son Wedding Song for Your Son On His Wedding Day

When I first sat down to write a mother son wedding song for my son on his wedding day I thought what he & his new bride meant to me. I had no experience in song writing. My song speaks more about the wedding day & not him as a little boy. All the lyrics flowed easily. You have to put your words into short sentences or lines (about 10 syllables) or less & make them rhyme. Listeners remember the song better with rhymes. After writing down your thoughts one sentence at a time, tell the story. The chorus should be powerful & catchy & the bridge sums the whole song up. I had no musical ability so I hired someone to put music to my lyrics. They fit perfectly. You will know if the music & lyrics go together. After the lyrics & music is written the song needs to be recorded. When I wrote my song I used the first draft because it came so natural to me.

1. Tell a story about something that is meaningful to you. (mothers & sons)
   The lyrics need to rhyme so the listeners remember it
   Your title needs to be in the chorus
   The title can be in verses & bridge also
   Remember that your writing about a mother & son, focus on that
   Remember you title & focus on that also

2. Keep your sentences to about 10 syllables
   Every line should have about the same amount of syllables
   Keep the verses to 4-8 lines each
   The chorus to 4-8 lines & also the bridge
   The verses can be 8 lines & chorus 4 lines
   Same goes for the bridge
   This is the most common set up for songs
   Verse - Chorus - Verse - Chorus - Bridge - Chorus

3. After the song is written, lyrics & music, it needs to be recorded in order to play it at the wedding
   It can be recorded in a studio or home equip. (They are the same)
   You need someone who can mix the music
   You can package the song or have it professionally done. (Search internet for this)
   If you want to market your mother & son wedding song to the public make the cover of the Cd is professional & original. Don't take clips off the net that someone else has.
