When I first sat down to write a mother & son wedding song for my son on his wedding day I thought what he & his new bride meant to me. I had no experience in song writing. My song speaks more about the wedding day & not him as a little boy. All the lyrics flowed easily. You have to put your words into short sentences or lines (about 10 syllables) or less & make them rhyme. Listeners remember the song better with rhymes. After writing down your thoughts one sentence at a time, tell the story. The chorus should be powerful & catchy & the bridge sums the whole song up. I had no musical ability so I hired someone to put music to my lyrics. They fit perfectly. You will know if the music & lyrics go together. After the lyrics & music is written the song needs to be recorded. When I wrote my song I used the first draft because it came so natural to me.
