Ready to blow away the boss during your next group presentation? Want to lay down the perfect soundtrack to the slideshow you worked so hard on? As requested, how to add a music track to a PowerPoint presentation.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • PowerPoint
  • .wav music file

Step1
After you've completed your presentation, bring up the first page in "normal " view. Click on "Format" at the top pf the page, and choose either "Slide Layout" or "Slide Design". A tool bar should appear to the right of your workspace.
Step2
At the top of that toolbar, it should read either slide design or layout, depending on which you chose. To the right of those words there should be a small down arrow. Click on the arrow and choose "Slide Transition" from the drop down box that appears.
Step3
Near the middle of the "Slide Transition" toolbar, there will be a heading that reads "Modify Transition". Below that should be a drop down box titled "Sound". Select "other sound" from the drop down box and browse for the .wav file you wish to play in your presentation. If you wish the song to loop, check the loop sound check box below.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your song is shorter than your presentation, you can chose to play another song somewhere else in the show. Play your presentation, note the slide the song stops on and put a new sound in on the next slide.
  • You can also adjust the speed and the amount of time each slide plays to make sure your song lasts for the duration of the presentation.
  • .wav files are the best bet for PowerPoint presentations. Other file formats can cause problems in the playback.
