Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Bible
- Prayer Journal
- Favorite shawl (Prayer Garment)
- Notebook and Pen
Step1
Start by approaching God with reverence and expectation. He is the creator of the universe and he has all power in His hands. He is all knowing and everywhere. He knows all and sees all. He is a judge yet He is loving. Understand and belief who He is and that he does exist. He will reward you for your seeking His face not just His hand.
Step2
The Lord's prayer is an example of the format you should use in praying to successful get a prayer to Him.
Step3
Our Father which are in Heaven. Reverence God and declare his greatness. Understand that He sees us as His Children. He is our Father. He cares for us like a Father cares for his beloved children.
Step4
Hallowed be your name. This is saying that you recognize his name as Holy and sacred. That His name is to be acknowledge and respected. There is power in the Name of Jesus. Use it with care.
Step5
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. This says that you are willing to give up your will to His will and that He knows what is best for your life and those that you are concerned about. He rules in Heaven and now you have invited him to rule on earth in your life and those who care about.
Step6
Give us this day, our daily bread. This is where you accept God's provision. You understand that all that He has is yours for the asking. He will not withhold anything good from you. It is not his will to do you harm. But he will supply your daily needs and He will make sure you have the things you need to survive.
Step7
And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. This is an important part of the prayer because you are asking God to forgive you because you have forgiven. If you are holding a grudge you can not expect God to forgive you. Release those that have hurt you and allow God to forgive you.
Step8
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. This is asking for God's guidance and protection. This means that He will give you His wisdom in all matters you will be faced with. He will give knowledge of what will hurt you and your family. He will give divine peace. There is nothing that He will allow to tempt you to be evil. He will not put you in a situation that will cause you to sin against Him.
Step9
For Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power and the Glory forever. This brings you back to giving him thanks for who He is and what He is doing in your life. This also brings you to give Him praise for what He is about to do in your life. This shows you are not confused about who has the power to affect change.
Step10
Amen- this simply means It is so. You agree that God will do what His word says and that is a fact.
