If you are trying out for a cheerleading team, and don't know how to do the basic half/elevator stunt they this is the place for you! Many people think that cheerleading isn't hard. That is wrong. I am a cheerleading and have been one for a big chunk of my life and it is no ride through the park it is complicated but very very fun and enjoyable!!!!!!!!!!!

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • four-five people

Step1
bs stands for backspot and fs stands for frontspot. the bases are facing each other. First have everyone stand in a line. Have the tallest person stand on a flat area.this person is called the backspot. His/her job is to sopport or secure the flyer. Then have the smallest person stand in front of the tallest person. This person is called the flyer. His/her job is to be the top of the stunt, the person to go "up" in the air. Next pick two people that are about the same hight, and have one stand on each side of the flyer facinmg each other. These people are called the bases. their job is to hold up the flyer. If there is 5 people, have the last person stand in front of the flyer but facing him/her. he/she is called the front spot. His/her job is to sopport the flyer.
Step2
next, on the basic 8-count, start at 5-6-7-8. And on 7-8 have everyone set. To set is when everyone prepares to start the stunt. The bases put their hands about waist-high with fingers over fingers. The flyer puts their hands or each of the bases sholder. The backspot puts their hands on the flyers waist as if he/she is about to pick her up. If there is a front spot, he/she takes a step back.
Step3
note that the flyers knees and butt are up and the bases are very close together, if the bases aren't close, the stunt could fall. Then, on 1-2 of the next 8-count, the flyer jumps into the base's hands and the backspot lifts the flyer by his/her waist and sopports half of her weight. The front spot still stays a step away from the stunt.
Step4
Next, on the 3-4-5-6 of the next 8-count, the bases push their hands down about 3 incches and push them back up to about sholder heightright below their chin. as the bases lift there hands to their sholders, the move their handsfrom being fingers on fingers to having their palms facing each otherand their wrists touching. Meanwhile, when the flyer is being lifted higher he/she makes their whole body tight and stiff. As the stunt is getting highter and the flyer is being lifted, the backspot switches from holding the flyers waist to holding her anklels, and still lifts half of the flyers weight. Then the frontspot comes back to the stunt and grabs the flyers ankles in the front, and sopporting the weight and the flyer.
Step5
ta da!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then once the flyer is up in the stunt, on the last 7-8 of the 8-count, have the flyer hit a high "v" and then the stunt is complete. To come, down you can either cradle or come straight down. to come straight, have the two basestake their had facing the front spot out and grab the flyers hand and slowly let the flyer drop to the ground. if there is a front spot, just have the front spot grab the flyers hands and do the same.
