Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Be ritualistic. Meditate with a dog at the same time every day. This will help your body, and theirs, become tuned to the days activities. Sit in the same place in the same position each time. Just as you would take your dog on a walk and feed him at the same time every day, this will help solidify a routine for both of you.
Step2
Lower your expectations. Go into the endeavor with no preconceived ideas. Try it out the first couple of times just to see how the dog reacts. Let him react as he will, and you can build your meditation around these actions or insecurities.
Step3
Be one with the dog. Place the dog in your lap on lying next to you. Place a hand on the dogs back to soothe him, and this will help you meditate with a dog. The two of you can focus on your breathing and quiet your minds.
Step4
Conclude the session. When you are ready to get up and end the session, you will need to be soothing and not startling or jarring. Say the same command quietly while petting the dog. End the session the same way each time to help signal to your body and the dog that another successful meditation is over.
