The Boston Pops, also known as the Boston Symphony Orchestra, has been around since the 1800s. Officially named the Boston Pops in the season of 1900, hundreds of thousands of people see the Pops performances each year in Boston and on tour throughout New England and the rest of the United States.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check the Boston Pops website or contact the symphony box office for a list of performance dates. Because the venues may sell out quickly once tickets go on sale, be sure to plan for your convenience.

  2. Step 2

Select a date where availability exists and purchase the appropriate seats for a price you can afford. Remember there may be added processing and handling fees, so the final cost may be slightly higher than the cost of the ticket alone.

  3. Step 3

Wear appropriate clothing such as semiformal or business attire per concert etiquette, and respect those around you during the concert. Also, be considerate regarding the use of electronic devices, bringing children to performances and following the guidelines for applause and service from on-site wait staff.

  4. Step 4

Travel to the location of the performance. The venue website will likely have information regarding directions and parking, disability assistance, building maps, nearby dining and concert etiquette.

  5. Step 5

Arrive to the performance well before the start so you have enough time to park, get settled into your seats and get comfortable. Follow the special rules for late seating should you arrive after the start of the concert.

  6. Step 6

Sit back, relax in your seat and enjoy the beautiful music of the Boston Pops.
