How to Clean Car Seat Tracks

Detailing a car yourself will save a lot of money. Car detailing is time-consuming when done thoroughly. Keeping car seat tracks clean will help to extend the life of the tracks and keep the seat moving smoothly. With a few items that you likely have on hand, you can clean your car seat tracks with just a little bit of time added to the overall time spent detailing your car.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Vacuum
  • Vacuum hose and attachments
  • Clean, soft cloths
  • Compressed air
  • Synthetic lubrication
  1. Step 1

    Remove all garbage and debris from the floor of the car. Remove the floor mats.

  2. Step 2

    Vacuum the floor of the car. Use a wand attachment that is small enough to fit in tight places. Vacuum all around each car seat track.

  3. Step 3

    Blow out small debris with compressed air. Move the seat all the way forward and backward, spraying compressed air in the front and back of the track.

  4. Step 4

    Vacuum the carpet and tracks again, removing any remaining dust and debris that was blown out with the air.

  5. Step 5

    Use a soft, clean cloth to wipe the tracks clean. Move the seats completely forward and backward to be sure that the entire track is clean.

  6. Step 6

    Use a damp cloth to remove any tough buildup or stains from the car seat tracks. Completely dry each track with a clean, dry cloth.

  7. Step 7

    Lubricate the tracks with a synthetic lubricating spray. Wipe up excess lubrication with a clean, dry cloth.
