Crocheting a doll's hat is fairly simple to do and gives a great sense of accomplishment. Follow this pattern for a head roughly 3 inches in diameter. Pick out some lovely colors of yarn. The yarn can be a single color or multicolored.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Yarn
  • Crochet hook

Step1
Begin by chaining 6 times for the first round. Form a closed circle or ring with a slip stitch. Chain 4, then single-crochet in a ring. Chain 3, 5 times. Join it to the first chain of chain 4 with a slip stitch.
Step2
Move onto the next round with a slip stitch into the first chain-3 space. For chain 3, double-crochet in the same space. Double-crochet 4 in the next chain-3 space. Repeat this until all the way around, then join to the top of chain 3 with a slip stitch.
Step3
Slip-stitch into the next double crochet for round 3. Move onto chain 4 with a double crochet. Repeat all the way around, and then join to the beginning of chain 4 with a slip stitch.
Step4
Complete round 4 with a slip stitch into the first chain-3 space. Double-crochet in each space around. Join to the top of chain 3 with a slip stitch.
Step5
Skip the double crochet for the fifth round. Single-crochet in the next double crochet. Repeat all the way around, and then join to the first chain of chain 4 with a slip stitch.
Step6
Repeat round 4 for round 6. For round 7, repeat round 5. For rounds 8 and 9, repeat 4 and 5 again, respectively. For round 10, repeat round 4 again.
Step7
Finish with round 11. Chain 1, then single-crochet in each stitch around. Join with a slip stitch to chain 1. Fasten off and weave the ends back into the hat.
