Have a good physique. You need to look tough but not too tough in order to be a bouncer. You must maintain a strong physical appearance and work out regularly. This causes people to think before they try to fight with you.

Know self-defense. You must be able to provide a safe environment for the patrons of the club. Self-defense enables you to physically control a situation without unnecessary violence.

Handle drunk or angry people. Maintain self-control and be able to remain calm under pressure. Many drunk or angry patrons try to get into fights with bouncers. Have ample experience to handle the situation the best way possible for all parties involved.

Enjoy night life. You must enjoy working evening and early morning hours. Most bouncers sleep during the day in order to be at their best for their shift.
