He knew you had a deer head mounted on the wall and a stuffed bear in the living room when you met him. Now you want to share your passion to hunt with the man of your dreams. Teaching your husband to hunt isn't always the easiest thing to do, especially if there is a large object blocking the learning curve, like an ego. There are ways to gently help him learn to hunt, without having to go to marriage counseling.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Step1
Remember before you do anything, praise pays. If you are correcting him, always try to give two positives, the correction, and then another positive. He'll remember better.
Step2
Decide what type of animal that you are going to hunt. Go to a local sporting goods store and ask a clerk for help getting the equipment. If you already have that equipment then thank the clerk and leave. At this point you haven't given a single helping hint. The clerk did it for you.
Step3
Get books from the library and go to the Internet to find hints and help on hunting. Do this activity together. He may find an interesting fact that you didn't know. It always feels good to teach someone else something. He will like the feeling also.
Step4
Teach your husband how to use the equipment. Whether bow and arrow hunting or using a gun, it's best to practice ahead of time.
Step5
Divide up the tasks to prepare for the trip. One doesn't have to know about hunting to pack supplies.
Step6
Organize a list of things to do once you have arrived. By now he should be somewhat familiar with the process and be able to join in.
Step7
Keep the instructions down to a minimum when hunting. If he misses a shot or forgets what to do next, don't worry...be happy. It isn't the end of the world. There are a lot more important things to be upset about. Smile, give the okay sign and move on.
