How to Survive in the Ocean

Being stranded in the ocean is probably not something we think of very often. We see a movie depicting someone stuck in the ocean and wonder how we would make it without our television and recliner. It is possible to be stranded in an ocean and if you follow these steps you just might be able to survive.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Step1
Keep your boat afloat. You need to have a boat or life raft otherwise you will be dead in hours, not days.
Step2
Ration your supplies. Make sure that you do not eat and drink all of your resources too quickly. It is much better to be miserable and be rescued with resources left over than to run out in a couple of days and not survive the week you need before you are discovered.
Step3
Use the ocean water. You can consume up to 32 ounces of ocean water a day, but only for five days at a time. You can also reduce thirst by soaking in the water for a short time every day.
Step4
Eat the plankton. Plankton can be caught using a small net or piece of clothing. Plankton can be eaten without negative consequences and can provide the nourishment you need to survive in the ocean.
Step5
Stay as still as possible. Moving around can take enough energy that you will need an extra meal or two to survive. By remaining sedentary you can conserve energy and thus require less food.
Step6
Keep faith alive. Never give up hope that you can be found. Hope has kept people alive for days. Once you lose hope you lose the will to fight. If you follow these steps you can survive in the ocean for over a month.
