Instructions

    • 1

Draw the arms, legs, ribs and pelvis bones on tissue paper and cut them out. Don't worry about creating the precise size and shape of the bones; instead, focus on their general look.

    • 2

Pin the tissue paper bones onto the white felt, or use an air-soluble marking pen to trace the bones onto the white felt. Remember to reverse one set of bones so that they will be symmetrical on the costume. Cut out the bones.

    • 3

Use an iron to adhere fusible web to the felt and then attach them in place on the black sweat suit.

    • 4

Stitch around the felt bones to secure them into place.

Tips & Warnings

  • Choose 100 percent wool felt for projects that will be washed. Not only is it more durable than synthetic blends, it will resist pilling after washing.

  • Although fusible web provides a strong bond when heated, be sure to stitch around the felt bones to prevent them from coming loose in the washing machine.

  • For glow-in-the-dark bones, lightly coat the felt with reflective paint.

  • Make your skeleton costume even scarier by painting your face white and black and by wearing skeleton gloves.
