You're a good parent but you want to be great. Everyone wants their kids to love them but you also want them to like you too. Follow these steps to become a favorite parent and be the envy of all your friends.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Have fun with your children. Play games and laugh a lot. Go to movies. Being a parent can be hard work so you might have to remind yourself to enjoy the time you spend with your children. Take the time and your child will have many great memories to look back on.

  2. Step 2

Listen to your children. Communicate with them and talk about all sorts of things. You don't want communicate only when there is a problem. Some people forget that communicating also means listening. Hear what they are really saying instead of waiting for your turn to speak.

  3. Step 3

Take interest in their activities and hobbies. Spend time doing things they like to do. Get to know your kids as real people. Know what they like and what they don't like.

  4. Step 4

Set fair boundaries. Have rules that make sense. It's easy to lose your cool and punish unfairly. Stick to your rules. Teach children the difference between right and wrong. You may be tempted to let them do what they want but children really want someone to guide them.

  5. Step 5

Take time to explain things. Parents often tell kids what to do without an explanation. Kids will respect and admire you if you treat them as people who deserve respect.

  6. Step 6

Build your children's self esteem. Encourage them to do things. Don't knock down their ideas. Show you believe in them and have confidence in their abilities.

  7. Step 7

Live in the moment. Enjoy everything you do together. Share things you remember from your own childhood and create new memories. Some parents are so busy working and rushing around that they forget to cherish today. Your time is the best gift you can give a child.

Tips & Warnings
