How to Plan a Dukes of Hazzard Birthday Party

Plan a Dukes of Hazzard party to impress even a five year old. Kids are often the hardest to entertain, so it's important to find a different game or favor that your child's friends talk about until the next birthday party. Even if you can't find the usual party supplies in a Dukes of Hazzard theme, there's always orange, the color of the General Lee.

Instructions

Invite guests and Create Party Favors

1. Make a guest list. Include birthday child in the list making but limit the number of guests so the party doesn't get too big.

2. Create your own invitations using card stock and envelopes you purchase. Find Dukes of Hazzard stickers to put on the cards and have your child assist with writing the party information on each invite before sending it.

3. Design Dukes of Hazzard party favor bags by using plain paper lunch bags, an orange ink pad and a toy car. Roll the tires across the ink, and then roll them across each bag several times to make it look like the Dukes drove all over the party favor bag.

4. Fill each bag with candy, Dukes of Hazzard pencils, stickers, temporary tattoos, toy cars and other goodies of your choice. Find Dukes of Hazzard items online or at a party supply store.

Make a Dukes of Hazzard Race Game

1. Make cardboard General Lee cars before the party. Cut the top and bottom out of several cardboard boxes big enough to fit the children at the party.

2. Paint the boxes orange. After they have dried write the "01" on each side of the box with a black permanent marker.

3. Set up a race course using cones or tape at the party location and hold races so each guest gets a turn to run around the track hold the car around his body.

Make a Dukes of Hazzard Cake

1. Bake a cake in a 9x13 pan. Cover it in white frosting and decorate it with brown and green frosting, making a road and trees.

2. Buy small toy Dukes of Hazzard cars including the General Lee, police car and Daisy's Jeep.

3. Put the cars on the road to finish off the cake.

Decorate for the Party

1. Hang up orange streamers and balloons. Keep the orange theme even when you can't find specific Dukes of Hazzard items.

2. Make a banner that says "Happy Birthday" with your child's name on it. Take a picture of her playing with a Dukes of Hazzard toy if she has one and put the picture on the banner.

3. Put baskets full of toy cars and orange candy on each table as a centerpiece. Buy helium filled orange balloons to hang from the baskets.

Tips & Warnings

• Use a computer to print invitations instead of hand writing them.

• Keep with the theme and add only orange items to your favor bags; orange pencils, stickers, suckers, candy bars, toy cars or necklaces.

• Give a prize to everyone who races to keep it fair.

• Make other Dukes of Hazzard cars like Roscoe's Police Car, Boss Hogs Cadillac, Daisy's Jeep or Jesse's Truck.

• Buy a cake from your local grocer and add the cars to it.

• Don't forget to write "Happy Birthday" on the cake.
