How to Host a Kids' New Year's Eve Party

New Year's Eve isn't just for grownups. Kids will enjoy ringing in the new year with a party of their own. So, while adults have their own party, give the kids their own space for a New Year's Eve bash. With good food and fun games, kids will have no problem keeping busy until midnight.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Scrapbook stamp
  • Colored construction paper
  • Balloons
  • Funnel
  • Pin

    New Year's Eve Decorations

  1. Step 1

    Hang colorful streamers and balloons from the ceiling.

  2. Step 2

    Cover the buffet table in a colorful paper tablecloth.

  3. Step 3

    Pass out hats, tiaras and noisemakers to guests as they arrive.

  4. Step 4

    Add a banner with the new year written on it. Let kids draw a picture on the banner and paint or color with markers. Pose for a photo beneath the banner.

  5. Confetti Balloons

  6. Step 1

    Give kids scrapbook stamps and colored construction paper to make the confetti.

  7. Step 2

    Use a funnel to fill deflated balloons with the confetti.

  8. Step 3

    Blow up each balloon and tie. Hang them within reach of kids hands.

  9. Step 4

    Give each kid a pin at midnight, and let them pop the balloons at the stroke of twelve.

  10. New Year's Eve Menu

  11. Step 1

    Serve festive fruit punch made from juice and ginger ale.

  12. Step 2

    Make "clock" cookies. Frost regular sugar cookies, and let kids design their own clocks, using candies, sprinkles and frosting tubes.

  13. Step 3

    Offer a mix of kid friendly foods, such as popcorn and chips, along with healthier snacks, such as vegetable and dip, fruit with yogurt and whole wheat crackers with reduced fat cheese.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid caffeinated drinks or the kids may stay up well past midnight.
