Step 1
Determine just how small you need your travel air purifier to be. Because they come in all sizes, try to have an idea of your desired size in mind when you head to the store. Different models will vary in weight as well.
-
Step 2
Decide whether you want your air purifier to be able to plug into your vehicle's cigarette lighter socket. If you will primarily be using your air purifier in a vehicle, then this is a feature to consider.
-
Step 3
Look for an air purifier that has a strap that will allow you to mount it on the back of a car seat.
-
Step 4
Consider how often you want to have to change the air filter. Some only need to be changed every few months, so if convenience is a big factor for you then you will want to look for one of those.
-
Step 5
Opt for an air purifier with a pre-filter if you are concerned about filtering out allergens.
-
Step 6
Choose a travel air purifier that has a good HEPA filter as well as a filter for VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), which are gases released by chemicals.
-
Step 7
Test the purifier before buying it when possible to check for volume. Since you will probably be using your travel air purifier in confined spaces, you do not want it to be too loud.
