A garbage can cart is a rolling cart made to carry garbage cans to the curb. Made out of PVC pipes, the cart does not rust or warp. This PVC garbage can cart is inexpensive and can be made within hours.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 5 3/4-inch PVC pipe, 2 feet long
  • 4 3/4-inch PVC pipe, 4 feet long
  • 6 3/4-inch PVC pipe, 18 inches long
  • 2 3/4-inch PVC pipe, 2 inches long
  • 2 3/4-inch PVC pipe, 4 inches long
  • 6 3/4-inch PVC 4-way connectors
  • 4 3/4-inch PVC 3-way connectors
  • 2 caster inserts with 3/8 inch holes
  • 1 7/16-inch axle rod, 28 inches long
  • 2 4-inch plastic wheels
  • 1 2-by-4 foot sheet of plywood
  1. Step 1

Make the base of the cart. Use the two 2-foot pipes for the width and the two 4-foot pipes for the length of the cart. Connect the pieces together with the four 4-way connectors. On one end of the base, turn one of the open ends of the connectors so that it points downwards. On the other end of the cart's base, turn one open end of each connector until it faces outward.

  2. Step 2

Insert four of the 18-inch pipes into the open connectors that are facing up. Place a 3-way corner connector at the end of the PVC pipe with the bottom 4-way connectors facing outward. These must be on top of the 18-inch poles. On the other side of the cart, place two 4-way connectors on the ends of the pipes.

  3. Step 3

Slide the 2-foot poles into the end connectors above the 2-foot poles on the bottom. Repeat this process for the 4-foot poles.

  4. Step 4

Insert two 18-inch poles into the open connectors that are facing up. Place the 3-way corner connectors onto the top. Insert a 2-foot pole into the 2 connectors to connect them.

  5. Step 5

Place the two 4-inch pipes into the top to create the handles.

  6. Step 6

Put the two 2-inch pipes into the two 4-way connectors that are facing downward. This stabilizes the cart when it's not in motion.

  7. Step 7

Place the caster inserts into the open 4-way connectors that are facing outward. Slide the axle rod through the inserts from one side to the other. Attach the wheels onto the axle and place the caps over the axle and the wheel.

  8. Step 8

Put the plywood into the bottom of the cart to create a base.

Tips & Warnings
  • Place PVC cement around all of the connectors and pipes to make the cart sturdier. Allow the cement to dry before using the garbage can cart.
