Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- 2-quart (or 2-liter) plastic soda bottle
- Utility knife
- Stapler
- String
- Honey or maple syrup
Step1
Cut off the top of the soda bottle. Turn the severed soda bottle top upside-down and place it into the bottom half of the bottle, as if it was a funnel. Staple it together all the way around the top edges. Make sure there is no way for the wasps to escape out of the top edges. They won't be able to make their way out of the small hole (the bottle cap part of the bottle) that is hanging into the bottom of the bottle.
Step2
Punch a hole into each side of the soda bottle and tie it with string. Hang it anywhere that wasps are a nuisance. If you can find the nest, hang it close by.
Step3
Pour a 1/2 an inch of maple syrup or honey into the wasp trap. Spread a little along the edge of the soda bottle top as an attractant.
Step4
Let the wasps swim around when they get caught in the wasp trap until they drown then empty the trap.
