Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Narrow tipped plier
- Wire stripper
Step1
Make sure that any chance of electrical shock is eliminated. First, touch something that is non-electrical to ground yourself. Next check to see if the electrical item is unplugged.
Step2
Use the wire strippers to remove the PVC jacket from around the wire conductor. Make sure to strip enough of the PVC jacket to expose 1/4-inch of wire conductor.
Step3
Place the wire inside the terminal. There should be 2 short and 2 long clips available. Insert the wire conductor in between those 2 short clips. Next use the narrow tip pliers to wrap the 2 long clips around the PVC jacket. This holds the wire in position. Make the wrap solid. Test the connection by giving it a slight tug.
Step4
Take the narrow pliers and bend the 2 short clips together. Make sure the bend is tight and secure. This creates a contact point between the wire conductor and the terminal itself. Now insert the crimped terminal into housing connector. You can use this terminal crimping method male and female terminals.
Step5
Test the work. Turn on the electrical equipment and make sure the terminal was crimped correctly. If any errors occur, consult a licensed electrician.
