How to Draw Aang the Avatar
Follow the simple instructions below for drawing a crouching Aang the Avatar. Remember to have an eraser handy and be willing to use it. It helps to have and a picture to reference. As with any drawing, break Aang down into basic shapes before adding the details. Be patient; this may take a few tries.

1
Begin with the head. Draw a circle for the top of the head. Then from both sides about halfway down the circle, draw curved lines to meet below the circle for the chin.
-
2
Next sketch the body as an oval form not quite twice the size of the head. The oval should reach from one side of the head to the other, and lean slightly to one side.

3
Sketch the arms and legs with basic oblong oval shapes. One leg should be bent, and one outstretched to the side. One arm should reach down to the ground to support the weight of the figure, while one will reach back to hold his stick behind him. Don't forget the stick being held behind Aang in the hand outstretched behind the figure.

4
Add the facial features. The eyes are very large and round, about halfway from the top of the head and the chin. The nose is very simple with only a curve and a dot for the nostril. The mouth is a large bow mouth, drawn open. The eyebrows are small and curved high above the eyes. Draw the trademark arrow on Aang's head extending down almost between the eyes.

5
Sketch on the clothing next. Remember that Aang's shirt to the elbows is loose and flowing, as are his pants to the knees. Below the elbows and knees, the clothing is fitted. The sleeves end with cuffs at the wrist, and the pants extend around the feet.

Darken the permanent lines and erase the original guidelines.
