How to Arrange for Burial in Mexico
There are few countries that celebrate death the way Mexico does. They see death as a continuation onto a new and better life. Many customs they have not only honor those who have passed, but also pay a yearly tribute to them. Burial services in Mexico can be very different than in the US, so it's essential that you understand the culture and country and incorporate that into your plans.

Allow the traditional gender roles to take place while you arrange the funeral. Women close to the family bring food, candles and money to the mourning family. The men in Mexico deal with the planning of the burial.

Feel at ease having the deceased in the home to begin the funeral. The family has the casket in the home where everyone comes to join them in prayer. The casket is open if at all possible and filled with flowers from family members and guests who attend. Candles surround it and images of saints are also added inside the casket.

Understand the cultural belief in Mexico that the soul lives on after death and needs many of the same things that the living do. The deceased is dressed in their best clothes and all of the rest of their clothes are included in the casket, as are any of the tools they may have used on a daily basis to be included in the burial.
