Choosing which new cell phone to buy is difficult with all of the choices and comparing features, but once you've decided on the perfect one for you, like the BlackBerry Pearl, now comes the hard part. You must now choose where and how to buy it.

From Quick Guide: Using a Blackberry
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose a carrier. Before you can even get to the specifics about your phone, you must decide which carrier you want to use before you buy it. You may have a current contract or are shopping for a new one, but remember to look at carriers that will only work with the BlackBerry.

  2. Step 2

Decide on the color you prefer before you chose to buy a BlackBerry Pearl. Some colors are only available with certain carriers while other colors like white and black are more widely available.

  3. Step 3

Browse advertisements from local stores and visit as many stores as you can to price compare for the BlackBerry Pearl. Be honest with the sales staff and tell them you're comparing prices and resist all efforts to make you buy that day.

  4. Step 4

Look at prices from online stores and auction sites for your BlackBerry Pearl. Don't be fooled by low prices. Remember that you must calculate shipping into the total cost and tax onto the price if you buy from a local merchant.

  5. Step 5

Remember to take into account any of the discounts and rebates offered by signing up for a contract. Many times you can get a BlackBerry for a very low net cost, but you must be able to pay the entire amount up front and wait to be reimbursed by rebates which can take up to three months to process.

  6. Step 6

Shop for accessories for your phone. Most times you can find them cheaper online rather that purchasing in the stores. Car chargers and additional memory are the most common accessories to purchase up front.
