Attempting a jump on a motorcycle represents a feat of daring, focus and athletic ability. If you have an itch to perform motorcycle jumps, follow these steps to prepare yourself for the death-defying leap.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Step1
Make sure your motorcycle skills are at their prime. Any motorcycle jump should only be undertaken by someone who rides at professional or near-professional levels. Consult with an instructor or pro who can evaluate your skills and help you enhance any missing abilities.
Step2
Gear up. You must be properly protected to do a motorcycle jump. Helmet, shin guards and knee and elbow guards are required, even for the most experienced rider. Make sure your bike is in top condition and that you know how the bike responds to your body.
Step3
Plan the jump. Even the most world-renowned daredevil jumpers planned their jumps in detail before attempting them. Go to the prospective site of the jump and take measurements of ramp lengths, angles and the jump trajectory. Use the information to estimate where you'll land and how fast you will hit the ground.
Step4
Before you commit to the jump, do a couple preparatory mock jumps. Do everything leading up to the jump without actually jumping. This helps you to understand if you're can gain enough speed on the ramp and whether the ramp is sturdy and straight enough for you to safely use it. If you detect any irregularities, inspect the ramp and make repairs or alterations.
