How to Repair a Garden Gnome

No matter how much we may love and care for our garden gnomes, sometimes a broken gnome is inevitabile. A break doesn't necessarily have to mean good-bye forever, though. If you aren't ready to let go of your little gnome friend just yet, follow these steps to make your gnome almost as good as new.

  1. Step 1

    Clean and dry your gnome thoroughly before attempting the repair. make sure there is no debris to hamper the adhesion of the glue. Use a heavy-duty, all-purpose, waterproof glue.

  2. Step 2

    Return the broken pieces as closely to their original position as possible so as to minimize the crack when they are glued together.

  3. Step 3

    Apply the glue each broken piece and hold them together as the glue dries.

  4. Step 4

    Remove any excess glue so that it does not dry on the surface of the gnome.

  5. Step 5

    Let your gnome rest overnight before placing it back in the garden.

  6. Step 6

    Repair a gnome that is cracked but not broken with waterproof silicone caulk. Squeeze the caulk into the crack and twist a piece of wire tightly around the area. Allow the caulk to set. Remove the wire after the caulk dries and scrape away any excess caulk from the surface of the gnome.

  • Sometimes trying to repair a broken gnome is futile. Recognize when it's time to say good-bye.
