Kat Von D, former pot-stirrer on the program Miami Ink, now has her own reality TV show on The Learning Channel. L.A. Ink follows Kat's life as she operates her tattoo shop in Los Angeles, California. To get tattooed on L.A. Ink, you need a fun personality, an interesting background and great tattoos.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Visit the L.A. Ink casting website if you live in the Los Angeles area or plan to visit, and want to get tattooed on the show.

  2. Step 2

Select the month, date and year of your birth when prompted to do so, and then click "Submit." To appear on L.A. Ink, you must be 18 years of age or older.

  3. Step 3

Enter your personal information in the spaces provided, including your full name, address, email address, and phone number.

  4. Step 4

Type the story of why you want to get the tattoo. Remember, the more interesting the story, the greater your chance of appearing on L.A. Ink.

  5. Step 5

Upload a photo of yourself and a photo of the style of the tattoo you desire. Both photos are used for casting purposes only and the show's staff will not return them.

  6. Step 6

Send in a non-refundable $100 deposit for the tattoo if you are notified that you've been selected to be in the L.A. Ink pool of clients. If you are later chosen to appear on the show, the $100 will serve as a credit toward the cost of your tattoo. However, just because you are a member of the pool of clients does not mean you will appear on the show.

  7. Step 7

Remember that you are responsible for any expenses you incur, including travel and lodging, as a result of appearing on the show.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take the time to thoroughly research potential artists before getting a tattoo. Most artists have online portfolios, but you should also view some samples of an artist's work in person to give you the best idea of what she can do for you.
  • When selecting an artist to give you a tattoo, pick one who adheres to the specific style you're interested in. For example, if you're interested in getting a portrait tattoo, don't seek out an artist who specializes in tribal designs.
  • Call the L.A. Ink hotline at (800) 345-9146 for the latest updates on casting events and open calls for the show.
  • If you are selected to appear on the show, you are expected to pay for the cost of your tattoo.
  • Since so many people are applying to appear on L.A. Ink, the show's staff members cannot respond to all applications they receive.
