Designing your baby's nursery around a Mother Goose theme will stand the test of time, ensuring that your baby will enjoy her room as she grows from infant to toddler. With so many nursery rhymes and stories from which to choose, the most difficult part of this design is settling on which ones to use.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Paint
  • Mother Goose nursery rhymes
  • Mother Goose-themed bedding

Step1
Decide on which Mother Goose rhyme to base the nursery design. If you are having a hard time remembering them all, go online. There are plenty of Mother Goose sites, such as the Enchanted Learning website to jog your memory.
Step2
Find pictures associated with the rhyme. These pictures will be the basis from which you will choose colors for walls, bedding and curtains.
Step3
Choose the wall color. Going with a neutral or light color is best for this nursery theme because the rest of the room design will be full of color.
Step4
Determine accent colors. Choose a few main colors from the pictures you found. For example, if you are using "Baa, Baa Black Sheep" choose black and white as accent colors.
Step5
Buy Mother Goose-themed bedding. Find the bedding that matches your chosen Mother Goose story or rhyme.
Step6
Consider stenciling. Try your hand at stenciling a short Mother Goose rhyme on the walls for a quaint accent.

Tips & Warnings

  • Visit a used bookstore to find Mother Goose nursery rhyme pictures. When you are finished, you can cut out pictures from the book, place in a picture frame and hang them on the walls.
  • Only stencil on flat walls. If your walls have a decorative wall treatment, your stenciling will not turn out as well.
