In the rush of life, families sometimes skip breakfast. Often when people do eat breakfast, it's eaten on the run. Though it can be difficult to put fun into breakfast during the week, you can take some time out over the weekend and make breakfast one of the highlights of your family's day.

From Quick Guide: Break for Breakfast
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Cook breakfast together. Whether you're a family with children or a couple trying to put a little fun into breakfast, cooking together is a way to bring the family together. See cooking as a collaborative experiment, and you're going to create some fun along the way.

  2. Step 2

Experiment with strange, new breakfast recipes or with breakfasts from other cultures once a month. Try Chinese soup for breakfast one month and Indian idli the next. You can have fun expanding your cooking vocabulary as family members expand their tastes.

  3. Step 3

Make your breakfast food into art. Put food coloring into batter or dough to create crazy colors, or paint your toast with food coloring using Kookerkids' recipe for Kooker Toast. For another way to make your breakfast into art, arrange the food on the plate to create a face or an animal, decorating it with fruits and vegetables. The whole family can get involved, no matter how young.

  4. Step 4

Create a pancake, waffle, biscuit or omelet bar. Put out a variety of additions for whatever food you're serving. Have each diner choose their own additions so everyone gets exactly what they want

  5. Step 5

Serve dinner for breakfast. Sometimes, even something as small as this can make breakfast a little more fun.

  6. Step 6

Have a breakfast picnic. Pack a basket full of prepared goodies, wake the family up early and head to the backyard or a local park to eat and watch the sun rise. Even ordinary food tastes extraordinary if you eat it outside.
