Things You'll Need:
- Wallpaper scrap
- Wallpaper paste
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Screwdriver
- Masking tape
- Cover plate
-
Step 1
Turn off the electricity before removing any cover plate. Next, use a screwdriver and remove the cover plate.
-
Step 2
Take a piece of scrap wallpaper that matches the already existing wallpaper on the wall, or, if the room is painted, choose a pattern of your liking. Make sure it is about 2 inches larger than the cover plate. If trying to line up a pattern, place the scrap piece over the opening where it will go on the wall to check for alignment.
-
Step 3
Place the cover plate on the back side of the wallpaper scrap. Trace the openings for the outlets with a pencil and score with scissors in the middle, making an "X."
-
Step 4
Tape the overlapping edges of the wallpaper with masking tape to the back of the cover plate and also the switch hole flaps. This will ensure better reinforcement.
-
Step 5
Apply the cover plate back to its position on the wall.
