Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Determine just what sort of collectibles you desire. This can range from theater programs or clothing to early movie and Hollywood items.
Step2
Build a relationship with a reliable and reputable antiques dealer. Although an item technically has to be over a hundred years old to be called an antique, many dealers stock 1920s merchandise as well. Having an extra person looking out for great pieces is always a good idea.
Step3
Search garage and estate sales. Oftentimes people have a cache of items that once belonged to an older relative from the period and may produce a wealth of memorabilia. Flea markets and auctions can also serve up many interesting finds as well.
Step4
Find signed collectibles from the 1920s. Signatures from that era are difficult to find and even harder to verify, so be certain the item is purchased from a reputable company or person.
Step5
Hollywood memorabilia from the 1920s is particularly sought after. You can still find dresses, costumes and purses in wonderful condition.
Step6
Look for baseball items from the era, as they are also difficult to find. Rare items and sports signatures fetch higher premiums. Sporting memorabilia in general is prized, and the better the condition, the higher the price.
