A magnetic knife block is a good item to have in kitchens with limited counter space. This magnetic knife block is mounted on the wall to allow for more counter space while working in the kitchen. Although this knife block is a space saver, it also makes an attractive addition to your kitchen decor.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 piece of wood
  • Stain
  • Paint brush
  • Strong magnets
  • Glue
  • Wall screws
  • Screwdriver
  • Knives
  1. Step 1

Find a piece of board that is 1/2 to 1 inch thick. The size of the board depends on the amount of knives you want to put on the block. Make it as large or small as you like.

  2. Step 2

Stain or paint the front and sides of the bock of wood. Allow the stain or paint to dry.

  3. Step 3

Glue the magnets onto the back of the wood with wood glue or super glue. If the wood is thick, chop into it to thin out the middle for the magnets. Strong magnets are available at any craft store. Use larger magnets to hold bigger knives like cleavers.

  4. Step 4

Find a stud in the wall. Place the knife block flat against on the wall. Screw the knife block into the wall with screws. Use one screw for each corner to hold it in place.

  5. Step 5

Place the knives on the block with the points facing down and the blades pointed up. The metal blade must sit flat against the block.

Tips & Warnings
  • Mount the magnetic knife block over a cabinet to avoid injuries.
  • Do not use this knife block in locations where earthquakes occur.
  • Hang the knives out of the reach of children.
