Step 1
Decide on what factors are important to you in a storage facility. Make a list of the things to consider when storing your RV, such as indoor versus outdoor storage, cost, hours of access, security and availability of electrical hook-up for charging the RV's battery.
-
Step 2
Call local storage facilities and ask them what amenities they provide and what the cost of storage is. Most RV storage facilities will offer a discount if you prepay the yearly fee up front.
-
Step 3
Ask your friends and neighbors who own RVs what facility they use for their RV storage. Personal references will provide you with firsthand knowledge of a facility's pros and cons.
-
Step 4
Take a tour of the RV storage facility to see if it will suit your needs. Look at the space size to determine if your RV will fit comfortably. Check out the neighborhood around the RV storage to determine if the routes in and out of the facility will accommodate your RV.
-
Step 5
Negotiate the contract. After finding the right RV storage facility, make sure the contract protects your best interest. A month-to-month lease with a thirty-day notice to vacate is best, as it allows you to find other means of storage in the event that you need to leave or are asked to leave that particular facility, for whatever reason.
