These beaded snowflake ornaments sparkle just like real snowflakes and add a beautiful touch for the winter decorating season. This simple craft is one that can admire for years to come. Sit down with the family, string beads, and make some memories.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Pearl-end corsage pins
  • Various crystal beads
  • ¼ inch long cork
  • White glitter paint pen
  • Monofilament thread

Step1
Arrange your crystal beads on one corsage pin, leaving ΒΌ inch on the end bare. Make 3 more pins with the beads in the same order as the first. Make another 4 pins with a different arrangement of beads. Lastly, make another 2 pins with the same bead pattern. You should have a total of 10 pins with 3 different bead patterns.
Step2
Lay the round side of your cork on the table. Insert the first group of 4 pins on opposite sides of each other such as: top, bottom, left and right.
Step3
Insert the second group of 4 pins between each of the existing pins to give an equal staggered look.
Step4
Take the last two pins and stick one on each of the round sides of the cork.
Step5
Paint the cork with the paint pen. A second coat may be needed after the paint dries.
Step6
Tie the monofilament thread around one of the pins to create a loop for hanging.

Tips & Warnings

  • For a kid friendly version of this snowflake, use pipe cleaners or chenille stems instead of pins and foam balls instead of the cork. You can bend the ends of the pipe cleaners to hold the beads in place.
