1
Decide where and what you're hunting. While some predator calls can be used with a number of different predators, others are specific and work only with the predators they are designed for. Think about what you'll be hunting, and where, to make sure that your call device is effective.

2
Be stealthy. If you're making a lots human noises while trying to use your predator call, the chances that a predator will come to the call are pretty slim. Get your hunting perch set up and organize all your gear before you start calling so that you don't give yourself away.

Decide between hand held calls and electronic calls. Hand held calls are inexpensive and easy to use. Generally, you simply cup the call in your hand and blow air into it. Read the call's manual for specific information about how to modulate the rhythm and pitch of the call to make it more realistic to the predator you're hunting.

4
Know when to stop using the call. Just like fishing, you need to know when to let out a call and to remain silent and still for a moment. Your predator call manual might give some information on this tactic, but you'll also have to consult with other predator hunters and use your own experience to gauge when is the best time to stop calling.
