1
Use plenty of lights. Strands of Christmas lights are ideal for a prom. They provide a soft, subtle glow that mimics a starry night that's perfect for a night of romance.
-
2
Hang colorful streamers from the ceiling. Streamers, a mainstay of proms of yesteryear, are an inexpensive way to ad color and texture to a prom decor.
-
-
3
Decorate with plenty of balloons. Like streamers, bouquets of floating balloons add a bold punch of color and make an ordinary occasion special.
-
4
Cover the tables with color coordinated tablecloths. Linen is preferable, but paper is usually more budget friendly.
-
5
Wrap colored tulle around the Christmas lights for a soft, romantic look. Tulle can also be used as bunting around tables, draped over doorways or be tied to chair backs.
-
6
Sprinkle tables with glittering confetti and add a simple floral centerpiece.
-
7
Hang up a large banner with the class year prom theme written on it. It can be made either professionally or an artistic student can make one with recycled white sheets.

Tips & Warnings
Rent a helium tank and assign a couple of students the task of filling balloons and tying them with ribbon streamers. It will be cheaper than buying already filled balloons.
