Things You'll Need:
- Any variety of summer blooming bulbs (such as lilies, begonias and irises
- Garden trowel or flower bulb planting tool
- Dry soil
- Water
-
Step 1
Read the directions on the bulb packages you purchased to see how deep to plant your bulbs. Some varieties of bulbs will need to be deeper in the ground than others, so make sure you read each package carefully as they may need to be planted differently.
-
Step 2
Open up the package and feel each bulb. If there are any bulbs that are too soft, they are not good bulbs and will not bloom properly.
-
Step 3
Check the weather and make sure there are no more chances of frost occurring in your area before planting your bulbs. Once the last frost has happened for the season, you can plant your bulbs.
-
Step 4
Take a flower bulb planting tool or gardening trowel and dig a hole in dry soil to the depth suggested on the package.
-
Step 5
Put the bulb in the center of the hole. Make sure to only put one bulb in each hole you dig.
-
Step 6
Place some soil over the bulb, covering it completely thus filling the hole back up.
-
Step 7
Pour water over the soil and bulb making sure it is completely saturated.
