Asteroids, a popular arcade game in the 1980s, remains popular today. While newer games offer far superior graphics and more complicated game play, the simplicity of Asteroids has appeal. Modern technology, however, has brought Asteroids to the Internet. Best of all, the Asteroids you play on the Internet is exactly the same as the Asteroids you used to play on your Atari or in an Arcade.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Go to the Arcadeo website. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to the Asteroids section and click "Click here to play." From this website it's free to play Asteroids as many times as you wish.
Step2
Click "Play the game" in the Asteroids window that comes up. The game starts immediately, so be ready to play.
Step3
Use the left and right arrow keys to rotate your space ship around. Move forward by pressing the up arrow key. Move slowly by pressing and releasing it and move faster by holding it down. Shoot the asteroids by pressing the space bar.
Step4
Shoot the asteroids as fast as you can and be careful not to let your spaceship touch the asteroids. Your spaceship blows up if it comes into contact with the asteroids.
Step5
Play in hyperspace mode by holding down the shift key. Just like in the classic arcade game, in online Asteroids hyperspace mode allows you to get out of a particularly troubling situation. Your spaceship bounces around the screen randomly. While this can be a quick fix if a lot of asteroids are headed your way, you run the risk of your space ship appearing randomly right next to an asteroid.
