How to Turn a Hobby Into a Career

Any hobby you have can be your career. Someone is already making your hobby their work. You can too. If you sing karaoke or play the guitar, you can make money with this hobby. Have a rewarding career doing the work you love.

1. Assess your various talents. Make a list of things you do when you are not at work. List all of your hobbies and interests.

2. Check this list. Singing in the choir, baking cookies for the family, collecting stamps or even reading can all be the hobby you can turn into your next career. Some people even have careers watching TV.

3. Look for locations in your area for businesses already making money by doing your hobby. For example, if you sing in the choir find local lounges that may be searching for singers. If you bake cookies, visit your local bakery and see what it sells.

4. Promote your new hobby or career by informing friends and family about your new endeavor. Print flyers to post around your neighborhood. Tell anyone and everyone. Print business cards even if you are not in business yet, and hand them out everywhere.

5. Connect with others who are already at work in the business. Pick their brains. Let them know that sponsoring you can bring them more business their way in the long run.

6. Open your new business. Enjoy your new work and the rewards of making your career with the hobby you love.
