Ancient mythology offers plenty of self help guidance in the myriad tales and parables. Consider this an interesting and entertaining method of helping yourself deal with stress.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Help yourself to as many mythology stories as you can. Read mythology from all over the world, not just western mythology. Look for a common trend among these myths. Many mythologies talk about accomplishing things against great challenges. Increase the variety of myths that you read.

  2. Step 2

Use mythology to help yourself go through life. Look at mythologies that involve struggles to find solutions to the real life struggles you're going through. Picture yourself as the mythology's main character, and your obstacles as the enemies the mythology's hero fights.

  3. Step 3

Make use of mythology to help you cope with separations. Picture yourself as Persephone's mother. Read about the circumstances surrounding her marriage to Pluto and the final arrangement where she visited the surface half the year. This is like watching family members move on, then come back to visit you.

  4. Step 4

Read mythology surrounding Juno to help yourself deal with infidelity. Don't inflict harm on the others, but use creative ways to "punish" those involved so they don't cross you. Don't pull a "Cronus" if your kids get on your nerves. They may not overthrow you from your position, but they are the ones that deal with the nursing home you end up in.
